Teddy Roosevelt said that.
I find myself repeating this like a mantra.
(also GADZOOKS!!!! BURLYCON WAS AMAZING! …more about that in a minute)
It’s a wonderful ward against perfectionism, fear and a whole host of other concepts, beliefs and feelings that keep us from digging in.
Do what you can with what you have where you are.
And that means when plans don’t play out as intended – do what you can. Use what resources are available right this very instant.
My plan.
It went awry… All those awesome classes to teach. It hasn’t been possible.
That isn’t what I planned.
And with that plan kput for the time being I’ve been more than a little bummed.
Bummed for disappointing folks who’ve been super excited and so very supportive. To you – I’m sorry. This isn’t what I envisioned.
Also bummed because – I miss you.
I do.
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
How many times have I heard fellow performers say:
“I wish I could perform more.” or “I wish I could take more classes.”
With the schedule I have right now my teaching time is nil and performance time is teeny. Other plans are overriding sparkly time and that’s okay. It’s all part of the BIG PLAN.
SO…
Here are some ideas of things I sometimes do when I’m jonesing for a Burly-Q fix.
- Repair or work on my costumes
- Scour Youtube for inspiration
- Put itunes on random and challenge myself to come up with a concept for every song that comes on no matter how ridiculous
- Go see someone else perform
- Level up skills – dance, make up, hair, crafting
- scour Pinterest for pretty inspiration
- stretch
- make a lunch date with a burly friend just to talk shop

GADZOOKS!!!! BURLYCON WAS AMAZING!
Our sparkly minds were blown to glittery bits and then lovingly put back together with pasty tape, hot glue and spray adhesive. Can’t wait to tell you all about it. In the mean time, register for 2012. Yup, yup. You really want to just do that now. We’ll see you there.
